Projects

OCEAN has sponsored and supported a range of partnerships and projects over the years, including:
  • Establishing the Coastal Environments Learning Network (CELN), a linked network of sites offering education and recreation focused on the rich diversity of natural and cultural resources in the area.
  • Exhibit design and installation of the interim hub of the Coastal Envirornments Learning Network, hosted at the North Bend Visitors Center.
  • Assistance to the Coos Bay School District in implementing a marine curriculum in grades K-6 (funding, teacher training, class room and field trip assistance).
  • Assistance to the City of Coos Bay in developing interpretive panels for its waterfront.
  • Assistance to the City of North Bend in recruiting the services of the National Park Service to plan a pedestrian byway to access the wetland habitats of Pony Creek.
  • Publication of an annual consolidated calendar of events.
  • Construction of the Mill Creek/Blossom Gulch Elementary School urban nature trail system.
  • Hosting booths at public festivals.
  • Hosting workshops on resource management for decision makers and the public.
